Indo American Association of Delaware Youth Group

The IAAD Youth Group is a group that brings Indian youth from all over Delaware and other surrounding states together to join in social and community service activities. We welcome new members, and the only restriction on membership is that members must be in grades 8-12 and must participate in our events.

The Indo-American Youth Group welcomes all youth in the community and has been in existence for over 20 years. Throughout the years, the group has taken part in various cultural as well as social activities. The IAAD Youth Group organizes events like Sport's Day, Farmhouse Summer Picnics, Bowling Night, Skating Night, Movie Night, and much more! We also help with organizing activities for children at the annual India Fest.

In addition to these social events, the youth group participates in numerous volunteer/community service projects and educational activities such as a Journalism Seminar, serving food at the Emmanuel Dining Hall, helping out at the Rockwood Christmas Mansion, and Adopt-a-Highway (highway clean-up).

The IAAD Youth Group's showcase event is the annual Health & Charity Fair where the youth group members with the help of local physicians fund raise thousands of dollars to donate to two charities, including one local. We have donated to organizations like Global Youth HELP (Health, Education, & Leadership Program) and the Wilmington Firefighters Fund. This past year in 2013 we donated money to Toys for Tots which provides new toys during October, November, and December each year and distributes these toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in our community. In addition to fund raising money for charities for the Health & Charity Fair, youth group members run games, sell food, and organize the cultural program at the fair to entertain families.

The Youth Group has been recognized by the New Castle County Council & the Mayor of Wilmington for organizing many fund raising activities.

The IAAD Youth Group also has elections each year in the fall to get members more involved and to teach members leadership skills like cooperation and responsibility.

The IAAD Youth Group is a wonderful organization here to help Indian youth meet other children in the Indian community, teach children many leadership skills, and most importantly, join the teens of Delaware together to give back to their community.
